Police in California have released details of a 911 call from a panicked driver moments after the accelerator in his Toyota Prius became stuck. The car was said to have reached speeds of nearly 150 km/h on a busy freeway before state troopers helped to slow it to a stop. The driver, 61-year-old James Sikes, managed to emerge unharmed.

Those Olympic medals are awesome

Cheryl Bernard's silver medal

Like most Canadians, I've never had the opportunity to touch an Olympic medal. Curler Cheryl Bernard stopped by the studio this week to chat about her experience in Vancouver. She brought along her silver medal and was happy to share it with anyone who wanted to see it up close. I have to say, I had goosebumps just holding the medal. They are heavier than you might think.

Cheryl said she noticed how heavy the medals were when she wore it for several hours after it was awarded (although she wasn't complaining.)

Several of my co-workers were able to get a close up look and feel of the medal. It was quite the experience.

Is bronze more satisfying than silver?

Psychologists are saying Olympic bronze medal winners achieve a greater level of happiness and satisfaction than athletes that get the silver medal. Is finishing third more rewarding that coming in second? Maybe not, but the research suggests that bronze medal winners don't over-analyze the loss the same way that silver medal winners do.
