His official residence is crumbling, but Prime Minister Stephen Harper is rejecting a taxpayer-funded fix-up.
In her report released Tuesday, Federal Auditor General Sheila Fraser says 24 Sussex Drive urgently needs $10 million in repairs. Fraser's report says the home has drafty windows, outdated plumbing, asbestos, and and electrical and heating system that hasn't been updated in 50 years.
A spokesman for the Prime Minister's Office says 24 Sussex is adequate, and the prime minister sees no need for substantial renovations right now.
