Mike Blanchard
A native Calgarian, Mike got his start in radio in 1989 at CJXX in Grande Prairie. Prior to his debut in Grande Prairie, Mike's radio career was momentarily sidetracked - he originally planned to pursue Radio Arts at SAIT, but his application was rejected! While pursuing a Communications degree at the University of Calgary, a respected professor encouraged him to pursue his radio dream. Mike realized radio was his destiny when he "didn't get a real job after leaving university".
Year joined CHQR: 1995. Before becoming the host of Calgary Today, Mike spent several years in the CHQR Newsroom.
Mike cites "It's a Wonderful Life" as one of his favorite films of all time - it reminds him that "sometimes we overlook what's right in front of us". It's not easy for Mike to ignore his immediate family - most of them reside in Calgary.

Andy Gregory
After graduating with a degree in political science from the University of Waterloo in 2000, Andy took the next natural step by embarking on a career in journalism. After finishing the radio program at SAIT, Andy reported news in Rocky Mountain House, Grande Prairie, Kamloops, and Vancouver before landing at QR77 in 2006.
A native of southern Ontario, she has competed in ringette and fastball at the national level and continues to play both sports recreationally. Andy loves dogs, documentaries, playing piano and politics.
One day, Andy hopes to be able to wear her Toronto Maple Leaf’s jersey proudly and safely on the Red Mile!
Andy’s motto: Love your job and you’ll never work a day in your life.

Wayne Nelson
A native Calgarian, Wayne began his broadcasting career in Peace River as a midnight DJ. He thinks he was 'promoted' to evenings because he was unable to stay awake overnight. From there it was mid-mornings & music director before a move to Red Deer to begin his news career. After returning home to Calgary, he garnered several major news awards while working at different stations, noting that great team-work is both enjoyable, and key to any success. Wayne credits his former high school English teacher, Louis Hobson, now with the Calgary Sun, as a major influence on his career.
Wayne & Laurel, his wife of almost 30 years recently became new grandparents, but he says their family also includes 5 Eurasier dogs.

Mark Stephen is the play-by-play voice of the Calgary Stampeders and the co-host of CHQR Sports Talk. Mark has been with the station since 1992. He is a native Calgarian and is well-connected with all of Calgary's sports leaders.
