As of 3 p.m. Monday, Calgary motorists will be able to drive the brand new northern section of the ring road.
The official opening ceremony was held on the roadway Monday morning.
Alberta Transportation Minister Luke Ouellette drove a vintage red mustang through a massive ribbon to celebrate the opening of 26 new kilometres of Stoney Trail.
And Ouellette says travellers will like it - because you can now more easily get across the city from east to west.
Contruction on the southeast portion of the ring road is underway, while the southwest remains, as ouellette says, a challenge.
