A man is dead after a fiery crash on the QE2 Highway north of Calgary on Thursday evening.
Police say shortly after 6pm, police received several 911 calls about a vehicle going in the wrong directon between Carstairs and Didsbury.
But before police arrived, the man's vehicle collided with a southbound fully-loaded semi truck.
Turnbull says the collision sparked a large blaze, and though several witnesses rushed to help the victim, he had already died of his injuries.
The semi driver wasn't hurt.
Airdrie RCMP are now investigating why the vehicle had crossed the median and are asking for any witnesses to call 403-945-7200.
