As the Progressive Conservatives return from their convention in Red Deer over the weekend, the process begins for MLA's to better sell their message about what they plan to do to get Alberta through the recession.
That was the central theme of a vote on Premier Ed Stelmach's leadership.
Conservatives say there is a plan but complain the public isn't aware of it.
Calgary MLA Manmeet Bhullar admits the government has to do a better job of explaining to the public what it's planning to do and says he understands the public is concerned with the growing deficit the province is facing.
Wildrose Alliance party leader Danielle Smith says she's "not all that surprised" by the confidence given to Premier Stelmach.
She says party faithfull will always rally around their leader, and regardless of whether the rating was high or low, it changes nothing for voters and her party.
Smith says she's been travelling the province for the last six months and has found Albertans are very, very unhappy with the Stelmach Tories.
University of Lethbridge political scientist Peter McCormick says he was blown away by the 77% support for Premier Stelmach.
He thought it would be much higher because a division of party supporters would devastate the Tories and only bolster the rising Wildrose Alliance.
McCormick says the vote was a clear message to Stelmach, to clean up his image and gain better control over the issues... and soon.
