The leader of Alberta's Wildrose Alliance party is promising changes to the province's energy royalty structure.
Danielle Smith made the pledge in a speech in Calgary Monday to Alberta oilpatch executives.
Jim Davidson, with the Calgary investment firm FirstEnergy, says the sellout crowd is a sign business leaders are willing to listen to alternatives to the Stelmach government.
The current royalty framework has been a contentious issue for Calgary's business community since it was brought in by Premier Ed Stelmach two years ago.
