Hundreds of people attended a public funeral in Calgary Tuesday afternoon for a soldier whose family says he died doing what he loved.
24-year-old Sapper Steven Marshall was killed by a roadside bomb 10 days ago while on foot patrol near Afghanistan's Kandahar city.
He was the 133rd Canadian soldier to die on the Afghan mission.
14 motorcycle officers from the Calgary Police escorted the hearse carrying the body of Marshall to Centre Street Church in northeast Calgary.
The fire department also set up two ladder trucks to form an arch over the roadway.
