Bill dealing with police/EMS sparks privacy concerns

Alberta's Privacy Commissioner doesn't like Bill 62.
That's the amendment to the Alberta Emergency Health Services Act introduced by the Stelmach government this week.
The bill spells out what information paramedics can and cannot share with police.
Privacy Commissioner Frank Work says there is no evidence to clearly show why the bill is necessary.
He says the bill goes too far and strips away oversight of decisions made to disclose information to police
And he says the new legislation could leave EMS staff wondering whether their priorities should be treating victims or gathering evidence for police.
