City council has begun the process of making adjustments to the budget to deal with a 4.8 per cent property tax hike.
But as of Monday afternoon, not much has been added or taken out of the budget.
Alderman Diane Colley-Urquhart tried to chop 1. 7 per cent from the budget of civic partners, which includes the zoo, Heritage Park and the Science Centre among others.
She says she's hoping to add things to the budget, specifically recommendations from the transit safety audit.
Colley-Urquhart says in trying to spread the pain, it won't be a major impact.
"It's not taking a whole bunch from one person, it's a little bit across the board, with the exception of the public library, so I think it's reasonable."
However, other council members rejected that cut that would amount to $500,000 because it would affect quality of life issues.
