RCMP and Occupational Health and Safety are investigating a fatal incident at Syncrude's Mildred Lake North mine site near Fort McMurray.
Two heavy hauler trucks were involved.
One driver is dead, the other is recovering in hospital.
Syncrude emergency response personnel attended the scene, which is now secured for the investigation.
