Snow removal gets shot in the arm

City council has approved a two-year pilot project to help remove snow from secondary streets after snowfalls.
The $1 Million a year pricetag will come out of the Fiscal Sustainability Reserve fund - meaning it won't affect the property tax rate.
The idea was pushed by Mayor Dave Bronconnier.
He says the City would call on private firms to help clear out residential streets that city crews are not able to get to immediately after a storm.
A report will go to a city committee so it can decide how effective the program is and whether it should be part of the regular budget.
