A passerby is getting credit for saving three people in a southwest duplex late Monday night.
A man driving by on 37th Street southwest spotted smoke coming from the home in the 33-hundred block in the Glenbrook area.
The man stopped and notified residents who escaped, although one was taken to hospital by EMS.
Firefighter says the thick smoke was blanketing the street when they arrived.
The fire began in the basement and burned up into the main level.
The blaze was contained to one half of the duplex.
One person who'd been inside was injured and had to be treated in hospital.
Cause and the damage estimate have not yet been determined.
