Stoney Trail is about to move another step closer to being a free flowing ring road in the north.
The Alberta government announced plans to remove a set of traffic lights from the northwest ringroad.
Work will being early next year on an interchange on Stoney Trail at Harvest Hills Boulevard.
It's part of a plan to remove all grade level intersections on Stoney Trail by 2013.
Area MLA Teresa Woo-Paw says the new interchange will improve access to the ring road and enhance safety on Stoney Trail.
The province says on average interchanges reduce collisions by 45 per cent and eliminate the T-bone and head-on crashes that frequently result in serious injuries and fatalities.
