The province is providing a second quarter fiscal update Thursday and the Canadian Federation of Independent Business will be watching closely.
Alberta spokesman Richard Truscott says he is expecting the government to show that the expected $6.9 billion deficit will be cut by about $2 billion.
But he says, in order to stop the bleeding, the government needs to come up with a plan for more sustainable spending.
