Innisfail RCMP closed both directions of Highway 2 at 4 p.m. Friday between Carstairs and Didsbury.
Treacherous conditions resulted in a multi-vehicle pile-up, as heavy snow fell.
The storm hit Calgary at about the same time, leaving roads a slick mess and causing dozens of fender benders.
