Alberta's children's services minister is praising those who work with children suffering Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder.
The condition can cause brain damage and disabilities.
Yvonne Fritz was the keynote speaker for an annual caregivers conference in Ccalgary Monday.
It's also F.A.S.D. week in Alberta.
She says there's only one way to prevent the incurable condition:
"We have excellent programs in the community, that teach people, the only thing that prevents F.A.S.D. is to not drink alcohol at all during pregnany."
Fritz says about 23,000 Albertans are living with F.A.S.D.
Roughly 10% of those are under Provincial care.
