Alberta jobless rate bucks national trend

Alberta was the only province with a notable employment loss in February pushing the unemployment rate up 0.3 percentage points to 6.9 per cent, compared to 6.6 per cent in January.
15,000 jobs were lost in February in Alberta.
February marks the second month of employment declines in the province, bringing employment 0.9% (-19,000) lower than it was a year ago.
The latest report from Statistics Canada, however, shows Calgary's unemployment rate dropped slightly from 7.
Nationally, the jobless rate fell from 8.3 per cent to 8.2 per cent.
