An airline analyst expects the transition at the top at Westjet will be seamless.
Industry expert Rick Erickson says new president Gregg Saretsky is a good choice with his previous experience at Canadian Airlines and Alaska Airlines.
"I think Westjet was very fortuitous in bringing in Saretsky. If nothing else, as an insurance policy, and that policy is paying dividends right now. He's a very experienced individual in the North American airline business."
Saretzky had been brought in to head Westjet vacations but was moved up to Executive V.P. of Operations last Fall.
There has been speculation that glitches with Westjet's new computer reservation system and financial results helped push Sean Durfy out the door, however Erickson doesn't believe that.
